PEACE COFFEE

Joy.

This coffee shop just exudes joy. You can’t help but walk in and be in a good mood.

The lighting is a huge part of this.

For starters, Peace Coffee is one large open room. This allows light to fill up the whole space without any obstruction or shadows.

The light first comes pouring in through the windows that spread across the whole length of the long wall that faces the street. To compliment the natural light, there are simple, bare-bulb fixtures that hang in rows throughout the exposed beam ceiling.

Their subtle support of the natural light makes the space feel as though it is solely lit by the indirect light of the sun.

But the thing that makes me fall completely in love with this space is the giant disco ball that hangs from one of the exposed beams.

This beaut solidifies the feeling they are going for in the space.

This brightness is magnified by the eclectic use of colors all throughout the space:

• The coffee bar is covered in alternating colored panels.
• The chairs are a bright, sky blue
• There are neon yellow benches that surround a lima bean shaped table (I’m aware that is a very strange way to describe it, but I grew up reading “A Bad Case of Stripes.” Now, if you don’t know what that is, just pretend you do and look it up. Lima beans will then forever be at the forefront of your mind too. You're Welcome.)
• Two walls are a beautiful mint green
• One wall is a multi-dimensional mural of rolling hills painted in progressing shades of blue
• There is a multi-colored, mosaic tile covering the ground as you walk in the front doors
• Their chalkboard is filled in with a myriad of colorful chalk
• And many more uses of color, but you get the idea

Now, I’m obsessed with colors. The more the better. So this makes my heart jump for joy.

If you don’t like joy, self-expression, and positivity in your life, then you may want to crawl back into that dark hole you came out of.

I’m kidding. For the most part.

To each their own.

The bright vibe that they have going in this shop is made reality by the personable baristas and owner.

You are not going to walk in and be greeted by a be-grudging barista who is there to simply pay the bills.

These are good people.

And they care about the people that walk through their doors.

This is a coffee shop for their community.

And at the end of the day, you can’t ask for more.
