I have had the privilege of being able to spend two weeks on the east coast, primarily in Philadelphia. However, on a Saturday we drove up to New York City.
Yes. I most definitely hear Frank Sinatra singing “New York, New York” even when I just type the words.
Now let me just say, there is no city that has the sheer magnitude that Manhattan has.
Two words.
Times. Square.
I mean, this was my second time seeing it, and it simply does not fail to overwhelm. These pictures hardly do it justice.
The amount of light that is blasted into your face from the ginormous screens is enough to make you think it is always day. Add to that all of the color that the light carries, and you feel like you are right smack dab in the middle of a rainbow.
Everything in New York really does seem larger than life the moment I set foot on the pavement in the city.
But I would have to say that there is something about a city all lit up at night.
One of the most beautifully lit places in manhattan at night is the Lincoln Center.
Even if you are not into the arts scene, there is something about the way it is lit that it just sweeps you up with it.
There is such a warmth from the light that is able to pour through the building into the open center out front. The elegance of the lighting from within is made so soft and inviting by the architecture and windows.
And it is not just this one building. There are three, creating this u-shape that seems to wrap you in a hug of light.
The thing that adds the cherry on top for this location though?
The fountain.
There is something magical about water when it is lit up. Especially at night.
It draws you in.
And this fountain allows you to get close enough so that you can sit around it, feeling fully immersed in the experience of the glowing light coming from within.
New York. It never ceases to draw you in.
