Are you sick of poor lighting throwing off your makeup routine? Do you often leave your house feeling confident, only to later get a glimpse of obvious foundation streaks or overdone blush? Don’t worry, it’s not your fault….it’s your light bulbs’.

The perfect lighting is essential for flawless makeup, which is why we at LightBulbs.com are here to help you stop bad lighting, especially during tasks as important as this. Bad lighting can make you look washed out, tired, and generally less beautiful, so it’s crucial to install the correct kind of lighting in the areas where you do your grooming.

Faking Daylight

Though natural daylight is undeniably the best lighting for applying makeup, we don’t always have the luxury of doing our makeup under the comforting glow of the morning sun, free of unflattering shadows and washed out skin. Luckily, we carry a variety of daylight bulbs that actually mimic the color and tone of natural daylight. Installing bulbs like these in your makeup mirror or in your bathroom fixtures is an easy way to ensure you never end up with raccoon eyes or clown blush again.

Ideally Incandescent

While energy efficient lighting is all the rage right now, we recommend sticking with good old incandescent bulbs in areas where you apply makeup. The cooler, brighter light many LED or CFL bulbs emit can wash your skin out, leading to over application of foundation, blush and bronzer. Classic incandescent bulbs shower you in warm, flattering color tones that will help you apply your products evenly. These, these and these are especially popular for lighting makeup mirrors.

Location, Location, Location

Another tip to keep in mind is where you put your bulbs. If you’re doing your makeup in a room where lights hang primarily over your head, you’ll notice more unflattering shadows cast over your face. This can lead to using more concealer and foundation than necessary, giving you the dreaded “cake face.” Instead, install fixtures at eye level or just above. This will light your face evenly and eliminate any illusions of shadows and darkness.

Follow these tips and never suffer from midday makeup remorse again.

Stay flawless, everyone.
