Applications
Use one dimmer in a 3-way application. In the other location use a standard mechanical switch, such as model CA-3PS
Can be used in a 4-way application
In this type of application, three switches control the lights (two of those switches are 3-ways, middle switch is a 4-way). Dimmer will need to be installed in one of the two 3-way locations, and you'll need to keep switches in the other 3-way and in the 4-way location
Features
On / off switch
Slide dimmer
Works with most LED, CFL, incandescent and halogen bulbs
Check Lutron's LED compatibility tool for specific bulb compatibility
Troubleshooting
Problem: CFLs or LEDs do not dim, have a poor dimming range, or they flicker/flash
Check that two dimmers aren't being used in a 3-way application
Make sure the bulbs in use are marked as dimmable
Adjust the low-end trim dial
Bulb in use may not be compatible with this dimmer. Check Lutron's Compatibility Tool
If the bulb you are using flickers, drops out, or stops dimming when you reach a certain level, you have reached the low end level of the bulb's dimming range
CFLs and LEDs have electrical components inside them that can make noise when the bulbs are on. The noise is not anything to worry about, but if the noise is bothersome, the best solution is to try a different bulb
The common and traveler wires are switched at one of the locations. Consult the installation guide and wiring diagram for wiring guidelines in a 3-way setup. The common wire will be identified as the "tagged" wire. This wire either brings line voltage into the wallbox, or delivers voltage to your lights. Traveler wires go between 2 wallboxes and typically "travel" together in the wall. If the common and traveler wire are switched on the control, one side will only turn on if the other is in the on position.
