Works great from my phone… the price was right but, you do need the extra wire in my case to keep the batteries charged…I bought a transformer and wired it right up.. had no issues…. Good buy!!!

I’m happy with the new Nest thermostat but it does take some getting use to because it is WiFi dependent for both installation and full function operation. If you’re pretty handy it’s not difficult but if not you will want to call your A/C tech to install, especially if you need the “C” wire and your current thermostat doesn’t have one. (Watch some of the installation videos on YouTube before you start). Most people will find they need a backplate to cover the unfinished area behind the old thermostat since the Nest is much smaller than most existing thermostats. I thought the only backplate offered (which is not included) was ugly so I refinished and painted the area behind the old thermostat which made for a very clean, minimalist installation. Installation guidance and settings are done using the Nest app which you should download before you start.

I was not able to install the smart thermostat. So i called a pro and he said that the thermostat was defective and that it would not read that the power wire was connected. It's OK. It's hard to get the feel adjusting it from the side. Operating from the app on the phone is easier. Operating from the app gives you freedom to adjust from anywhere. Have to get use to touch on side of device to adjust.

I ordered the thermostat to have better control of my heating/cooling system. It is working very well, still waiting for first utility bill to see cost savings.

I found out from the Google Nest compatibility checker that the RH, Y, G and O wires on my old thermostat would require a C wire. When my HVAC was serviced, I had a C wire hooked up. After a couple of wrong turns, exacerbated by the low batteries supplied with the Nest causing an E294 error (I assume), I gave up on the installation and reinstalled the old thermostat. Even a Google chat session couldn't get me back on track.
Several days later I tried again, and had no trouble. It really is very simple to install. I just got off on the wrong foot before. One reason I got the Nest is because it was free, courtesy of APS. I believe their investment will be worthwhile. Even manual adjustments are much easier to make than with the old thermostat. And the Airwave feature, where the compressor shuts off while the blower continues to run, should contribute to additional savings.

We live in a large house in Scottsdale, AZ, and have four heat pumps to control. We switched our old thermostats out for the Nests. It was simple enough that I made the swap, except for one unit that did not have a neutral wire and began by running the HP backwards…heating when it should have been cooling. I called for help on that and ultimately had a technician come out and wire it in successfully. They work great and are saving me $$ in electricity costs. They look good and they are very easy to operate and fine tune for your personal daily routines.

Only had one issue during installation due to previous thermostat wiring. A call to an extremely helpful and patient customer service representative solved the problem! Great product!! When our house was built, for some reason, they felt it was a good idea to put the thermostat on the second floor. As seniors, it was a challenge every time we needed to turn it on or off or adjust the temp going up and down the stairs. NOW... we don't have to do that anymore. Received the thermostats on time. They are the latest models from NEST. Enrolled in APS NEST rush hour program. The device is super convenient and intelligent. Only thing to ensure is to first verify if the existing wiring has the RYWBC format. The trip switch for AC is off and careful not to short the C wire with the others. Next step is to have Google Home app installed and NEST device is scanned. This step is mandatory to make the thermostat work unlike the traditional thermostat.

Purchased 2 for both of our AC units. Best purchase ever! There is no delay communication from the unit to the app or the voice command is immediate. We were very surprised at how it exceeded all of our expectations

Overall really pleased. Am having issues with it going thru batteries. Googles solution is am using wrong batteries. Was using Duracell AA alkaline. Told to switch to Energizer AA alkaline. Will see if that makes a difference.

The Google Nest Thermostat was very easy to install where I previously had an older thermostat. The instructions were very easy to follow and operating it is a breeze. The only thing I'm having to get use to is changing the settings (i.e. mode, temperature, etc) on the unit as you don't touch the screen at all but rather tap or slide your finger on the outside edge to make changes.
On the other hand it is very easy to use utilizing the Google Home ap.

I have spent hours on the phone with tech personnel with no avail. It's a shame to see a good product ruined by a big company only interested in profits.

The thermostats were simple to install (installed 3) and seem to be working well. It is NOT totally intuitive, but after a few re-programs, they are working and changing heat as programmed. They do not come with a backing plate, so you will probably require a little wall touchup and paint.

This Nest is quite different the original stainless steel hockey puck learning version. It uses side taps and side slides to make adjustments, nothing moves or turns, the display is not a touch display. The biggest disappointment was that it requires a “C” wire which the original Nest did not.

The Nest is a great thermostat. The main problem is with operator error. Haven’t spent the time hooking it up to both our phone apps, resulting in asking the other to adjust the temperature. It will be wonderful once we get up to speed with it.

We replaced our defective home thermostat with the Nest Thermostat E that was provided at a discount from our electric utility company. The installation instructions (provided on the Nest app) were spectacular - the best installation instructions I've encountered for any device I purchased for as long as I can remember. There was a glitch during the installation, which didn't allow me to continue to the next step. This resolved itself after a few minutes and may have been related to the Bluetooth connection to my phone not working. The thermostat can automatically change heating/cooling modes when we leave and return to the house because it use location of our smartphones to know where we are. If you aren't a fan of location-based services, you can simply not use this one feature.
If you receive your Nest with assistance from your utility company, they may offer to provide discount electrical bills by controlling your thermostat during times of excessive usage (think very hot temps in the summer.) APS in Arizona calls this program "Rush Hour Rewards." I am interested in doing my part to reduce energy usage, so I plan to participate in the program, although the automatic enrollment was a surprise.

During an out of State trip we check it periodically and than about 30 minutes away from Home we set the Temperature to our Normal setting. A simple solution for a simple problem, if you use it just as a thermostat. And then it becomes an integral part of your Google Home. The bonus was that by installing the Nest I found out that I have a heat pump rather than an air conditioner.

I'm sure it's great. Just wouldn't work on my split heat pump system. It told me it needed more power and that I would have to get in an installer for about $100. So it is now gathering dust in my garage. Make sure you can send it back!

Had to use power adapter for C wire, and connect the other wire from adapter to Y as shown in pic; and in setup only check W, R and C (only works when only heating furnace is connected) This is allow thermostat to work correctly. Since Y is for cooling, you don’t have to worry and can use to complete the connection. This setup works for me (originally had two wires coming from furnace, red and white)

Overall, we are very pleased to have digital and remote access from our iPhones and Alexa. The product also looks very nice with the small circular mirror on the wall that displays the temperature setting and current temperature as you walk by. We had a couple minor issues with setup: (1) It took a couple tries to get the wiring set up. Once working,, the fan wire was reported as nonfunctional, even though we have a fan on the HVAC that turns on when the heat or air is flowing. (2) The zone times were tricky to set up, and we couldn’t get the hold temperature function to work beyond the next zone time setting. Beyond these setup issues, we are very happy with the product.

Had a hard time hooking it up. Mine, like most older stats, do not use a 'common' wire. But the trouble-shooting program simply gave me an "E294" error, which didn't say the common was missing. the product is fine - setup was glitchy but after doing some research this version of the nest can be weird about initially staying connected to wifi until fully setup. i had to reset to factory settings twice before finally getting it setup.
my main issue here is it was not advertised that you must have a C wire to use nest thermostats. living in an apartment in nyc, i don’t know what that means. my thermostat is half working for now via the app but i have to pay my super to come out and run a C wire to use this. luckily, it’s working through the app for now and i only need it for heat so i will continue to use it until it stops and reinstall my old one.

I purchased this thermostat to participate in APS Cool Rewards. Turns out I don’t have a “c” wire so I can’t even use it.

This new model is not compatible with boiler heater systems (Other Nest products are). It is not listed in the description, nor did Nest customer service know. After speaking to several people at Nest, they mentioned they would update the specifications to indicate this compatibility issue. Now I am stuck with it.

It did not work and I’ve spent over a month working with Google to resolve. Would not recommend this product

Installation more complicated than expected. Not using it yet.

The product keeps giving me an error message which indicates that is not "compatible" with my heating system. light bulbs does not accept returns of this product. Now I am stuck with a product which is either defective or does not work with my system.
