Imagine yourself in the book nook of your dreams.
I figured if I kept going, you would have been lost inside your perfect reading nook anyway! Here’s where my imagination took me. Even though all I really need is a book to transport me, I’ve always wanted an ultimate book nook like this one (or a combination of any of these, really). For those moments when we’re called back in to reality, it would be nice to at least return to a cozy space.
Lighting is of course vital to creating the best atmosphere a book nook can have. I’m a big fan of faint lights, so my book nook has string lights cozying up the corner.
Aside from the coziness factor, I like string lights because when they aren’t lit you often can’t tell they’re even hung up.
It’s not a book nook without a lamp. One day, I’d love to find one where the base is a stack of books, but until then, I’ve found lots of other fun options. My first recommendation is to pick a lamp in the style of your favorite genre. If you’re really into fairytales, try a mermaid or unicorn lamp.
You can also pick a lamp that reminds you of your favorite book. If you’re like most of the book-lovers I know, picking a favorite nearly leads to tears, so maybe pick a book that was pivotal in your life. For me, that book is unquestionably The Great Gatsby. With that theme, I’d pick either a bright green lamp or something harbor-themed.
The literary connection doesn’t have to be obvious to others. I chose this bird lamp for my current reading nook because birds are my favorite literary symbol.
Give people some insight into your reading tastes with a lighted white board. These come with letters you can rearrange to make say whatever you’d like. Display a favorite quote, or something that you’re thinking about from what you're reading.
Book nooks are great places to be; personalizing the lighting and decor can turn them into dreams. I hope this helps you get closer to your dream book nook!
