If you're like me, nothing stops you in your tracks quite like a beautiful city skyline at night. Here are my favorites.
1. Minneapolis
Having lived in an apartment throughout college that gave me one of the most stunning views of downtown possible, and now living in the heart of the city, I have a definite soft spot for my home skyline. But looking past my bias, Minneapolis truly does have one of the most distinct and eye catching silhouettes in the country. From the trademark illuminated halo on the Capella Tower to the warm orange glow of the Wells Fargo Center, I can’t help but get butterflies every time I catch a glimpse of these city lights outside my window.
2. Seattle
This skyline has it all. Take the futuristic Space Needle, add majestic Mount Ranier as a backdrop, and set it all right on the shores of Puget Sound, and you have all the ingredients for America’s most beautiful cityscape. Never been before? This picture might help you understand.
3. Chicago
With so many unique and recognizable buildings set on the stunning backdrop of the clear blue Lake Michigan, it’s hard not to appreciate the Windy City’s skyline. Add some distinctive lighting at night, like on the diamond shaped detail of the Crain Communication building, and you’ve got yourself one stunning nighttime sight.
4. New York
Nothing sends excited chills up my spine quite like the sight of the New York City skyline sprawling out in front of me while I approach the city. Despite the fact that I grew up within three hours of NYC and visited frequently, I never could get quite over the thrill of seeing the Empire State building and the Chrysler building towering over the seemingly endless jungle of city lights below.
5. Las Vegas
Unless you haven’t seen it for yourself, no one can argue that Las Vegas has one of the most unique skylines in America. Where else can you find a miniature Eiffel Tower alongside a huge ferris wheel and some of the tallest and most elaborate hotels in the world? Only in Vegas.
