Applications
In 3-way applications use this sensor with either a companion switch (MA-AS) or a mechanical switch
In 3-way applications, if you are using a mechanical switch, be sure to rewire the switch. See the Installation Instructions PDF below for more information
In 4-way applications, companion switches (MA-AS) must be used; mechanical switches will not work
Features
Dual circuit
Ground connection is required
You can extend the sensor's time out period up to 30 minutes, but you cannot override the sensor so the lights stay on indefinitely
Sensor does not detect motion through glass
Troubleshooting
Problem: Cannot switch power on or off with a newly installed sensor switch
This sensor requires a true earth ground connection in order to operate properly. First ensure that the device's green and bare wires are connected to the ground in your wallbox. If you do not have a ground available, this device will not function properly. If you do have a ground but are still experiencing this issue, it's possible that your ground wire does not directly return to your breaker panel. In that situation a true earth ground connection would need to be introduced, or this device may not function properly. If you believe this is the issue, contact Lutron's support line at 844-LUTRON1
Problem: Lights do not turn on when space is occupied
The multi-location or 3-way wiring may be incorrect. If using with a 3-way mechanical switch, ensure wiring changes were made to the mechanical switch as listed in step 3 of the Installation Instructions PDF below
Check that sensor mode is not set to vacancy mode (manual on mode)
Sensor is set to one of the Ambient Light Detection (ALD) settings and the room is too bright for the current light level setting
Problem: Lights turn off while space is occupied
Sensor's timeout may be too short
Sensor's sensitivity may be set for low
Sensor may not have full view of the room
Problem: Lights will not turn off once space is unoccupied
Sensor's timeout may be set for too long
An external noise such as an HVAC vent is interfering with the sensor. Try changing the sensitivity to low
Problem: 3-way switch does not turn the lights on
If the 3-way switch has a locator light, this can affect the sensor's performances. Lutron recommends replacing the 3-way switch with one that does not have a locator light
Check installation guide to make sure wiring is correct
Problem: Lights turn on in vacancy mode
In vacancy mode, a 15 second grace period follows the timeout. The sensor turns back in if it senses motion in those 15 seconds
